Leonardo DiCaprio in Belize!

Just as the group from Orchid Bay are headed to the Ultimate Event IV in Quito, Ecuador next week, I am preparing to head north to Maine for a Parrot Head convention! Somehow, when Jimmy said "Changes in Latitudes" I think he meant lower latitudes!

Leonardo DiCaprio is changing his latitude; he's building a new five star resort on an island off the coast of Belize he bought a few years back. According to Cheyenne Morrison of The Islomaniac blog DiCaprio and Four Season's will construct the world's first eco-friendly island resort on Blackadore Caye.
DiCaprio fell in love with Belize back in 2004 and runs an eco-friendly web site alongside his fan site. And, according to Morrison doesn't just talk the talk, DiCaprio actually walks the walk; he drives a hybrid car, flies commercial and has solar panels on his house!
Leonardo joins the likes of Francis Ford Copala, who also boasts a very private resort in Belize.

Time to start planning the March "Insider's Tour...

I was talking with the guys that run the Orchid Bay development about the whole "economic crisis" and the common theme was "Let's keep going the way we have been, and we'll end up being part of the solution!"
Although Phil tells me that the scheduled tour for February was "pretty good" attendance-wise...he wound up staying and hosting several other people who wanted to see Orchid Bay, but couldn't make the specific dates and it turned out "real good."
Put that together with our first ever webinar early in February and Orchid Bay is seeing a lot of activity...and I'm not even going to get into all the activity surrounding the community with the progress Belize Electricity Limited is causing.

Many ask..."What's the attraction in Belize?"

I had this conversation the other day with a friend of mine...He asked "Why do I keep hearing about Belize lately?"



I don't know why there is a big "buzz" about Belize lately, but I do know that Belize is absolutely beautiful and has so much to offer. For starters...I work with a developer which is actually building a village and to be involved in this from the extreme early stages is very exciting. Real Estate in Belize is undervalued compared to places like Florida and Costa Rica which means that the opportunity as an investment is outstanding! Appreciation on real estate is still growing at about 20% and ocean front grows even more.

I told him about the Bay of Chetumal which separates Belize from Mexico; this magical Bay is where Manatees mate and an abundance of fish are there for the sports fisherman's delite. This shallow Bay is large as far as Bays go, but protected enough to generally be calm for boaters and again, the fishing is amazing!

At the end of the conversation and after a more than a few Coronas, my buddy was ready to relocate! I gave him the name of the development and gave him a few geographical reminders of where Belize is located and I know he was going home to look it up.

This is the kind of conversation I frequently find myself in lately...when someone asks about Belize, I go off about all the country has to offer...then we digress to the current market conditions here in the US...and that always leads me to my discussion about buying real estate using my 401k money. Most cannot believe that you can do this, but you can...take a look at the latest blog I keep tabs on at Entrust Northeast...this is very cool stuff and opens up a lot of opportunities.

Like I said, when I start talking about Belize, it's hard to stop me...unless you get me talking about Jackson Hole, Wyoming...but that's a whole other story!

I'll introduce you to my buddy Thom in Wyoming next time, that is a paradise of a different kind but paradise none-the-less!

First Orchid Bay webinar a huge success...

I missed the actual live webinar, but listened in on the recorded version and what great tool this is. First, the folks at The Entrust Group gave an overview of what a self-directed IRA is and how simple it is to set up, then they explained how easy it is to invest in real estate using that account!

Then we had Phil Hahn who is one of the founders at Orchid Bay explain everything you ever wanted to know (well almost) about investing in Belize, the project at Orchid Bay, the economy in Belize...Phil covered a boatload of information.

Phil is committed to doing plenty more of these informational webinars and I am certain that he will cover a whole lot more as time goes on. Like real estate appreciation in Belize, especially at Orchid Bay. But I am certain that he will touch on the things he loves about the country too...like Manatees, boating and fishing. I'm hoping to get down there real soon to do some Bone Fishing with him.
